Past Wins Proved Lucky For 50-Year-Old Woman's $1 Million NY Lottery Win

It was her past wins in the New York Lottery's Cash X60 scratch-off game that led Pamela Campany to buy a winning million dollar ticket.

Mrs. Campany said she purchased the scratcher ticket because she had won $300 playing the same game in the past.

“I stopped into Stewart’s and picked the Cash X60 ticket because I had won some money on it before,” she said. “I brought it home and scratched it at the dinner table with my husband, Kenneth.”

Mrs. Campany said she knew she had won the jackpot as soon as the letter “J” appeared under one of her winning numbers.

“I just kept jumping up and down, screaming ‘I won!,’” she said. “I scratched off the winning numbers and then my lucky numbers. I got to 17, and then I saw the ‘J’ and I knew I had won. My husband told me to keep scratching to see if I had won more.”

Mrs. Campany opted to receive her winnings in a one-time payment. After required withholdings, she will walk away with an estimated $555,912.

She said she and her husband plan to use the winnings to pay off some bills and perhaps buy a new home.

“We plan to replace our current home with a new modular home,” she said.

According to the New York State Gaming Commission, Mrs. Campany is the 131st “New York Lottery millionaire” of 2015.

“I remember being asked why I thought I was the lucky one to win the jackpot,” she said. “Why not me? I believe it was just meant to be.”
