Restaurant owner spends $600,000 on Florida Lottery tickets
/Restaurant owner Jose Salmon was convinced he would win the Florida Lottery one day.
So he spent a huge $600,000 over nine years trying to hit the jackpot. That's $600 every single day.
"Would you spend $600 a day to try to win this lottery?" asked a TV reporter highlighting the story. Apparently, Jose would.
Starting in 1998, Jose took on this challenge, not knowing if his dream would come true. It was a big gamble that required a lot of hope and determination.
In the end, his effort was rewarded. He was one of four people to share a $52 million jackpot in the Florida Lottery on August 29, 2007.
Choosing a one-time payment, Jose ended up with $5.3 million after taxes.
Was it worth it? Jose says yes, but he also said he wouldn't play again. It looks like he reached his goal.
