Woody Allen confesses to buying $100 lottery tickets a week

In a down-to-earth confession, Hollywood film director and occasional actor Woody Allen revealed he's not so different from the average person.

Chatting with the Guardian in 2016, the then-80-year-old shared his habit of playing the lottery, spending about $100 each week on tickets.

He's pretty aware that his chances of winning are incredibly slim.

He even joked with interviewer Catherine Shoard about how unlikely it is to win, saying getting all the numbers right is harder than perfectly guessing a shuffled deck of cards.

He's rarely matched more than two numbers and humorously remarked that he'd be in shock if he ever got close to winning the big prize.

Allen, living in his New York home on Manhattan's Upper East Side, doesn't think winning the lottery would change his life much.

He's mentioned to his wife that they'd keep living in the same place, and he'd continue with his work, not interested in luxurious items like boats or planes.
