Charles Bibbs thought he'd won $250,000 in a Mega Millions drawing.

But it took a trip to the Mega Millions headquarters to realize the full amount was actually four times that - $1 million.

Auto mechanic Charles Bibbs bought the ticket that matched six numbers for the April 21 drawing, but missed out on the Mega Ball that might have given him the $65 million jackpot.

The winning ticket was bought at the 7-Eleven at 5200 Williamsburg Road in Henrico, Virginia.

The store selling the winning ticket received a $10,000 bonus from the lottery group.

"I had to look at the ticket 20 or 30 times,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

His wife said, "Well, we won $250,000. And that’s what we thought, until he went to the lottery office that day and they said we won a million dollars."
