$10M Lottery Winner Brings A Wealth Of Experience To New Welfare Job

There's probably many beneficiaries who wished they were in Jeffrey McCue's shoes.

Earlier this month he became the newly appointed commissioner of the state Department of Transitional Assistance in Boston. But that's not it...

Because in a peculiar twist the Massachusetts welfare chief was the winner of $10 million from a lottery scratch ticket in 2011.

McCue, 57, said he came out of retirement to take the welfare job.  When he won the lottery, he was Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Relations at Umass-Boston.

Now, you could say he's had a wealth of experience.
