NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. is worth $300 million, so why does he still buy lottery tickets?

Two-time Daytona winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently got told off by his girlfriend for continuing to buy lottery tickets.

The 41-year-old racer earns $26 million annually, yet still buys lottery tickets like the rest of us.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. picked up a quick pick Powerball ticket during his media tour in New York City before the Daytona 500 along with other members of his crew.

And did not get a warm reception from girlfriend Amy Reimann when she found out. According to Yahoo Sports, he was not in her good books for a while.

Amy Reimann and Dale Jr. talk about the lottery ticket.

"Amy got mad at me," he said at Daytona International Speedway where teams are making preparations for Thursday night's Budweiser Duel qualifying races.

She asked him why he's buying a Powerball ticket: "...you don't need to be winning it."

"And I promised her right then I would split half with a charity. She made me feel pretty bad."

Earnhardt won $12 with that Powerball ticket - but did he give $6 to charity as promised?
