This 53 Year-Old Lotto Multi-Millionaire Still Drives Snow Plough After His Win

Joe Meath still drives a snow plough after winning nearly $12 million in 2014.

The Meaths are still working after receiving their Hot Lotto jackpot.

Rhonda Meath, 51, of Bethel, Minnesota, says nothing is different now that she, and retired husband Joe, have a lot more bucks in their bank account.

"Have to still mow the grass and get mail and put grandkids on the school bus," the down-to-earth mom of four said after her big win.

Joe Meath is not only staying put in his snowy state, he's keeping his snow plow job.

Meath has been retired for a few years now, and plowing snow was something he decided to do mainly just to be a good neighbor. While life has changed dramatically for Meath, he proved he's still a man of his word.

Joe purchased a 10-line Hot Lotto ticket at Corner Express in East Bethel.

Meath is one of Minnesota's newest millionaires, but you wouldn't know it by looking at his odometer – he has nearly 300,000 miles on his Chevy pickup.

As a retired Xcel Energy employee, Meath got the truck used last year to take care of ten accounts he agreed to plow this winter. Eight of them he plows for free, the other two he charges about $40.

He committed to the accounts before his big win, and kept his word.

"I don't know what I'd be doing if I wasn't doing this today," Meath said. “It's been fun doing what we've done with the money. We bought another house, we bought a motor home, but other than that, it's been difficult with trying to figure out what to do with the money,” he said.

Over two years ago the Hot Lotto game (now replaced with Lotto America) became a taxes-paid jackpot. That means the Meaths have received the entire $11.7 million payout, with the Minnesota Lottery covering withholding taxes.
