How These Lottery Players Become 'Lost' Winners By Watching A TV Show

More than 26,000 fans of the TV series 'Lost' won the lottery by playing the same numbers as the character Hurley in the show.

In the series Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes, played by Jorge Garcia, scooped $114 million by playing the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.

But real-life lottery players were less lucky with this number sequence. They each won only $150 for matching four of the six numbers in the US Mega Millions in 2011. In an eerie echo from the show, the real-life lotto numbers even came out in the same order: 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and 42.

The same sequence of numbers tortured Hurley, showing up everywhere on the island in the show. In one sequence they were shown written inside a cave with castaways’ names corresponding to different numbers. John Locke was 4, Hurely was 8, Sawyer was 15, Sayid was 16, Jack was 23, and Kwon was 42.

The chances of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is one in 175,711,536... and in some viewer's opinions it's about the same as having guessed what was going to happen next in 'Lost.'
