LOTTO HOME: Take Control - Tell Your Home What To Do Using Your Phone

Lottery players like to have control over how they live. That's why you bought my Silver Lotto System instead of letting a Quick Pick ticket swallow up your hard-earned lotto spend.

I'm no different either when it comes to taking charge. So when I heard about the Belkin Wemo range of wifi switches you can turn on and off from your smartphone, I immediately thought of several uses around my home. Here's the three I bought:

They work like this... you first plug these switches into your wall sockets around your home, then plug in whatever appliance you want to control into each one.

For me it was our lounge tv, the office tv, and my office lamp.

You can also use Wemo switches for your electric blanket, bedroom lamp, coffee maker, computer, heater... anything that plugs in. The best part is you can schedule on and off times - even sunset and sunrise - so if you're away the home looks lived in.

They operate instantly anywhere you have internet access, whether you're around home or in another country, straight from your smartphone.

This is a screenshot from my iPhone after the setup. They checked out, so a week ago I went out and bought 3 Wemo switches.

Then I downloaded the Wemo app through iTunes on my iPhone 4S, and made the wifi connection with the switches.

The first time I tested it by turning on the office lamp from my iPhone was magical! You can see from the screenshot here that the lamp switch is showing green for on.

The next stage is to try out a motion sensor that Belkin make for the Wemo switch, and that should be here in a week or so. I ordered it using my airpoints, so there is a delay.

Then later on I'll get an electrician to install a Wemo wall switch so I can turn the main lounge lights off and on by phone or the wall. I'll tell you more about it when that time comes.

I've taken control and and it works for me!
