As a lottery winner you'd be expected to buy a Bugatti Veyron or a Lamborghini, then spend your life fighting all the speeding tickets. But surprisingly neither of these supercars are on the list of the most ticketed cars in the USA.

In fact, I owned several of the model that tops the list, and yes - I got my first ticket in 10 years driving one.

So if you also own a Mercedes SL like me, expect to put part of your funds away for a ticket or two. Or maybe don't drive so fast, as I've learned.

The top 10 list was discovered by the company that wants to know this information for a special reason. They're in insurance... the underwriters at Quality Planning.

According to the report, the Mercedes-Benz SL Class had four times the number of violations compared with the study’s average.

According to the report the Scion - the car Toyota designed expressly for Gen ‘Y’ers - had not one, but two entries in the top ten. The big Hummers and the Pontiac Grand Prix rounded out this category.

The company says that consistent with the findings of the previous year’s study, SUVs and hatchbacks showed lower violations on average than traditional two-door and four-door vehicles.
