16 Toyota Factory Workers Were About To Lose Their Jobs, Then Won $15 Million Oz Lotto Jackpot

Workers at Toyota's manufacturing plant in Victoria, Australia, were devastated in February when they learned the factory would shut in 2017.

But now 16 of the 2,500 workers who are expected to lose their jobs have been given a lucky break - a $15 million jackpot Oz Lotto win, reported the Daily Mail.

The automotive experts, aged 30-50, worked at the huge car plant in Altona, a western suburb of Melbourne. They have earned almost $1 million each.

Both parties chose winning numbers 32, 12, 3, 23, 40, 2 and 19, with supplementaries 6 and 37.

'We're all planning to do things like pay off the mortgage and take a holiday,' one of the employees said.

Meanwhile, the married Gold Coast man who won was at work on Wednesday morning when he found out he had won Tuesday night's jackpot draw.

The man, who is in his 30s and also wants to be anonymous, said he would 'sit and chill' while he thought about what to do with the money, but would definitely use it to help his family.

His ticket was bought from a newsagent in Highland Park, Queensland, which only 10 days ago sold another division one winning ticket worth $1.1 million.

Toyota Australia president Max Yasuda announced plans to close the Altona factory during his annual address in February.

They were told of Toyota's decision to end local manufacturing in 2017.

In less than 12 months, Ford, Holden and Toyota have all quit the local industry in a massive blow for the economies of Victoria and South Australia.
