Why lottery jackpots are getting bigger - the reasons behind the latest giant prizes

It’s a recent and exciting trend. Lottery jackpot amounts are going through the roof these days, thanks to changing rules and high interest rates.

For the third time in the past twelve months, we saw a jackpot of over $785 million from the Mega Millions game. And WCNC says that it is not a coincidence.

Over the years, rules have changed to increase lottery prizes. Back in 2009, a nonprofit that runs lotteries nationwide allowed states to offer both PowerBall and Mega Millions lotteries.

The move allowed lottery organizations to acquire more customers and get more money.
