Powerball becomes the biggest prize in lottery history with $1.6 billion offered

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $1.6 billion, the world’s largest lottery prize on record. NBC’s Emilie Ikeda reports for Saturday TODAY on the extraordinary odds to win.

Saturday’s drawing took place at 10:59 p.m. ET at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee.

It was the 40th Powerball drawing since the jackpot was last won on August 3 in Pennsylvania, according to Powerball.
