New Lotto Max millionaire, 60, goes back to catering job the day after winning $50 million

Richer by name - richer by chance.

Montreal resident Pierre Richer's last name took on a new meaning when he won the Lotto Max jackpot, making him $50 million richer.

Richer, who bought the $10 lucky ticket while shopping with his daughter for Thanksgiving, couldn't imagine the fortune that awaited him at the time.

The retailer that sold him the winning ticket, Super C, is also in for a treat, with a nice $500,000 commission coming their way.

The big win was a family affair, with Richer's spouse and daughter finding out about the jackpot the day after the draw.

The news was so shocking that his daughter's reaction was as loud as if she had seen a spider.

“I walked into the room, and they told me [about the win]," Richer said at a press conference yesterday.

"I said 'OK,' and then walked out," was his low-key reaction.

But this newfound wealth hasn't changed Richer's daily life.

Even after the big win, he was back at his catering job early Monday morning, saying, "I can't leave them alone in the dark."

He feels that leaving his team at the catering company without his help is not right.

"Without me there, the shipping department is not feasible. I feel the same. Nothing has changed."

Despite being in his 60s and having just won a life-changing amount of money, Richer's dedication to his job remained the same.
