A lucky Powerball winner has found the best way to ring in the New Year!
The ticket-holder in Michigan won the estimated $842 million jackpot Monday night, according to the lottery’s website.
The winning numbers were 12, 21, 42, 44 and 49 with a red Powerball of 1.
In addition to the jackpot winner, the draw created more millionaires across the country.
Florida and Texas each had a winner who matched 5 numbers with Power Play, securing $2 million each.
Meanwhile, other winners from California, Connecticut, Florida, and Maryland matched 5 numbers, each winning $1 million.
The jackpot, which had an estimated cash value of $425.2 million, is the fifth largest in the history of Powerball.
As the identity of the Michigan winner remains a mystery, their newfound windfall gives them a promising start to 2024.
The Draw
The US Powerball drawings are conducted at the Florida Lottery’s studio in Tallahassee, Florida.
The drawings are held twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
The studio where the draws take place is equipped with multiple automated drawing machines and ball sets.
They are randomly selected for each drawing to ensure fairness and randomness in the selection of the winning numbers.
