Bill Brady, 72, will get married this spring. His lucky day will be made even luckier with his $200,000 Illinois Lottery win.
Here's what happens when you forget about checking your lottery tickets: Bill Brady forgot about checking his ticket in the game, Lucky Day Lotto, until he was at a gas station a month after the draw.
He used the self-scan machine inside, and when the message 'file a claim' appeared on the screen, he asked the clerk to double check it.
"I was so surprised when she said I won $200,000, and it still hasn't really sunk in," he said.
Brady, who's lived in West Chicago for 65 years, said he will use some of it to pay for his wedding this spring. He also plans to invest.
The 7-11 store where Bill bought the ticket for his lucky day.
He bought the winning ticket at 7-Eleven, 1500 Illinois Route 59 in Bartlett. The retailer received a bonus of $2,000, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
