This Dubai Airport Parking Lot Is A Lottery Winner's Dream Come True. But There's Something Else...

This rare million-dollar Ferrari Enzo was left at Dubai airport after its absent owner fled the United Arab Emirates.

As you'll see from these photos, over the last few years many ex-pat business owners have left some extraordinary cars at the airport to be claimed and sold, some with keys still in the ignition.

It's a collection worthy of any lottery winner - except you won't need untold riches to buy them - they can be got for pennies on the dollar at auction.

But was the Enzo really for sale? What happens next in the video following is weird indeed.

Many owners bought their expensive cars with big loans and time payment.

This Rolls Royce, long abandoned, clogs up a parking lot while a decision is made to sell it.

Ferraris are popular in Dubai among the luxury sports cars littering the carpark.

A rare Jaguar XK220 worth £200,000 (US$300,000) is dumped in the dust, awaiting a decision.

A late model Range Rover sits in the impound lot, one of thousands of high-performance cars abandoned there.

Not only are BMWs and Porches abandoned in Dubai. This Lamborghini roadster waits for auction.

In this video a visitor is amazed at the bargain for car buyers in the UA Emirates.

So why are owners leaving their cars to an uncertain fate in Dubai?

Turns out these high-performance cars have been left abandoned at the airport by expats who fear being jailed because they are in debt.

Instead of facing possible jail sentences under the strict debt laws in Dubai, many Brits have decided to return home, without even bothering to sell on the cars.

Even though the country is one of the richest in the Middle East, falling oil prices and financial crises has meant that car owners cannot pay their debts. One owner said: "If you are landed with a big bill, the danger is your financial plight will be exposed."

"Trying to sell your car to foot your bills is all well and good, but that takes time. It’s easier to simply scarper."
