Christmas came early for Dayrell Rowe of Newcastle who scored $1 million with Lotto Max “Maxmillions” in the Dec. 18 draw.
“I couldn’t believe my own eyes when the ticket-checker read $1 million,” said Mr. Rowe. “It was unbelievable. You kind of had to be there.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Piggly Wiggly Convenience at 282 King Ave. W. in Newcastle.
Another Maxmillions winner in 2012, Denice Defante plays LOTTO MAX every Friday. Her $6 ticket won $500,000.
“How this money is going to benefit my kids was my first thought after I won,” said Mr. Rowe. He plans to buy some new vehicles, pay off some bills and save the rest.
Maxmillions are additional $1-million prizes that are drawn when the Lotto Max Jackpot reaches $50 million.
