A Moving Rags To Riches Story: 84 Year-Old Powerball Winner Goes From Trailer To Lavish Mansion
/$590.5M Powerball winner Gloria MacKenzie leaves the Crazy Egg restaurant in Florida alongside her son Scott and his partner Jerry Cruz.
I've just updated the Powerball jackpot figure in the sidebar (see 'Playing This Week'), and I noticed a worrying trend.
The jackpot figure has risen to a whopping $317 million without being won.
This is not a jackpot record. That happened in May 2013 when Powerball climbed to $590.5 million and was won by Florida woman Gloria MacKenzie of Zephyrhills.
The 84 year-old retiree from Maine bought a 6,322-square-foot, five-bedroom home in a gated golf course community in southeast Jacksonville with her lump sum payout of $278 million after taxes.
The home bought by Gloria MacKenzie, the USA's highest Powerball jackpot winner.
The home overlooks the club's golf course and a lake. Built in 2002, it has a library, a movie theater, closets the size of small bedrooms and a screened-in pool.
The indoor pool attached to the home at the gated Glen Kernan Country Club community in Ponte Vedra Beach.
It's a far cry from the trailer she had called home for 25 years to move into a run-down $30,000 bungalow in the small town of Zephyrhills, Florida, in 2012.
The run-down home that Powerball Winner Gloria MacKenzie lived in for a year.
The current Powerball prize still hasn't surpassed the biggest USA jackpot ever of $656 million, won by three separate Mega Millions tickets in March 2012.
But the problem is that Powerball has not been won since 29 November, 2014, when a Washington state ticket claimed $90 million.
It's now over 2 months without seeing a winner, so that means a great opportunity for Silverites (buyers of my System) to get some serious playing done.
