How I made a record-breaking million - but this milestone is not a lottery jackpot

My million step milestone on my iPhone screen.

If you remember from a past post, I've been using a Jawbone UP24 wristband.

It measures my health... activity, food, sleep, weight... and turns it into nice pictures and graphs on my iPhone 5S.

Well, yesterday my UP told me I'd walked a million steps.

Wow.

That's just in the 116 days I've been using UP to measure my life... since April 9th, about 4 months.

I was shocked. A million steps didn't seem possible.

It's a h-u-g-e number at the best of times. But I did it.

Because in addition to the 40 minute walk I take each day - which gives me about 60% of my daily 10,000 step rate, our stairs make up the rest.

It's about 70 steps from my home office on the ground floor to the lounge on our third floor.

And I do this every hour or so, along with walking round the house and section, maybe shopping.

It all starts to add up, and you barely notice the individual actions.

So I'm able to do 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day easily.

But listen - this is how fortunes are made, specially with the lottery.

Steady progress each week until suddenly we see the milllion steps.

I know we all wish that the Mega Millions or Powerball or Max jackpot will fall into our lap this weekend.

The reality is it's more likely that we're going to get a lot of secondary prizes instead.

It's an odds thing.
