Get Scratching! 5-Minute 'Scratch For Schools' Event Is A Fundraising Success

The Idaho Lottery's annual 'Scratch for Schools' event kicked off last Monday in Twin Falls.

Magic Valley schools competed for the title of fastest scratching school and to win cash for school needs such as playground equipment and books.

This year a record 450 schools competed for a share of about $100,000.

Idaho Lottery’s Spokesman, David Workman (above) said:

"The monies that they win today, they get to keep and use for classroom needs."

"Anything from books in the library to school supplies, we've seen them use them for updates to their reader boards, playground equipment, just all kinds of great little projects," he said.

57 schools competed in Monday’s event.

Valley Elementary from Hazleton was the fastest scratching school, scratching all 300 tickets during the final round and won in a playoff.
