ODDITY: Fortune Cookie Numbers Win Powerball For 199 Lucky Players At Once

How's this for luck? A fortune cookie message fluked the correct numbers to a Powerball game.

There were 89 players who won $100,000 each and another 21 won $500,000 with the Power Play selection in the same game.

Lottery officials suspected foul play. But it turned out that the cookies, made by Wonton Food Inc. of Long Island City, New York, contained the correct numbers for the 2005 game.

The factory had printed the numbers "22, 28, 32, 33, 39, 40" on thousands of fortune cookie slips, which were used in good faith by the winners. Ironically, none of the cookie employees had used these numbers.

The label on the inspiring fortune cookie amusingly - and inaccurately - read: "All the preparation you've done will finally be paying off."
