Dog finds lost lottery ticket to give owners a double win of $380,000
Jane and Alan Slater hit the jackpot by winning £150,000 (US$190,000) in the EuroMillions Lottery, but their story quickly took a quirky turn.
They had each bought a winning ticket with the same lucky numbers, not knowing the other had done so. However, they thought one of those tickets was lost.
A week later, their white labrador Ruby jumped into their car, causing a catalog to move and reveal the missing ticket.
Alan, 65, who works for Wightlink Ferries, had forgotten about his purchase and left the ticket in the car. The discovery happened on Ruby's birthday, turning the event into an emotional moment for the couple.
They were shocked to find the second ticket was also a winner, securing them another £150,000 (US$190,000).
"It was actually a bit scary because it all happened in such a magical way," Alan shared.
He was amazed at how the ticket appeared just as they were celebrating Ruby's birthday, almost as if it was meant to be. He also said how lucky they were that the ticket didn't end up being thrown away during a car clean-up.
The win was confirmed the morning after the draw on September 29, but it took another week for their second stroke of luck to reveal itself.
Jane believes Ruby, with her incredible sense of smell, was the best purchase they've ever made.
Despite their newfound wealth, Ruby's needs remain simple: "She loves her nice walks and she has lots of lovely food."
Their story is a blend of luck, timing, and a dog's keen nose, making for an unforgettable lottery win.
