Someone missed out on Mega Millions jackpot and $36 million is gone for good
The Florida Lottery has announced that a Mega Millions jackpot prize worth $36 million, won from a ticket purchased on August 15, 2023, has not been claimed.
The deadline for claiming this jackpot was midnight ET on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
The winning numbers were 18, 39, 42, 57, 63 with Mega Ball 7, and a 3x multiplier.
This ticket was sold at a Publix on 4495 Roosevelt Boulevard in Jacksonville.
When a Mega Millions jackpot goes unclaimed, the funds are returned to the states that take part in the lottery.
Each state receives a portion of the unclaimed amount, with the winning state often getting a larger share.
These funds can then be used according to state regulations, including supporting charities, funding future lotteries, or financing second-chance contests.
Lottery winners can validate their winning ticket at any Florida Lottery retailer within the period allowed, but to claim the jackpot prize, they must visit a Lottery District Office.

This unclaimed jackpot is a reminder for lottery ticket buyers to check them carefully and claim any winnings before the deadline.
