ODDITY: The pet frog that predicted winning lottery numbers and became a sensation
When local Thai resident Tongsai Boommrungsai spotted a frog in her garden holding a young chick in its mouth, she stared straight into the frog’s protruding eyes and demanded that it drop it.
The frog did, and the 52-year-old woman from Roi-Et in Thailand immediately named it Nong Oui. It became part of the family.
He was given a free hop of the house and local villagers would often call in.
But when they started seeing numbers on the stretched skin of Nong Oui’s stomach, they started placing money on those numbers in the Thai lottery.
For the next 10 consecutive lottery draws she produced winning two and three-digit numbers–and a legend was born.
Soon the Boommrungsai household was overrun with people. So to escape the amphibian’s ever-growing fan club Tongsai took Nong Oui and his toy Harley Davidson motorbike and fled to Pattaya.
What happened next in this strange tale is anyone’s guess.
