Jennifer Santo and husband Manuel at the Massachusetts Lottery headquarters to claim their $1 million jackpot prize.
When Jennifer Santo was told that she wouldn’t get a refund from her prepaid trip because of a passport issue, she was devastated.
The trip with her husband Manuel was a planned bucket list vacation celebrating her 40th birthday.
But they learned at the airport that he would not be allowed to board their flight because the date of their departure was less than three months from the expiration date on his passport. This resulted in a non-refundable cancellation of their trip.
Jennifer Santo purchased her winning ticket at Cumberland Farms, 33 Main St. in Bridgewater.
Luckily for the Dartmouth couple, her Quic Pic ticket matched the first five numbers drawn in the multi-state game on Tuesday, October 23. It was the same draw that featured a $1.537 billion jackpot won on a single ticket sold in South Carolina.
Santo, a nurse, received a one-time payment of $1,000,000 - less tax withholdings - from the jackpot. She purchased her winning ticket at Cumberland Farms, 33 Main St. in Bridgewater. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of the ticket.
