$1 million before she made morning coffee - Canadian woman's shock Lotto 649 win
Fort McMurray resident Patricia Fitzgerald collected her #1 million jackpot at the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) headquarters.
Patricia Fitzgerald started today in the best way. The Fort McMurray resident checked her LOTTO 6/49 ticket and discovered she won $1 million on the previous night’s draw.
“I woke up early and checked my Lotto 649 ticket,” she said. “I hadn’t even made myself a cup of coffee. I just had to check my ticket.”

“I yelped when I saw all of the zeroes come up on the WCLC mobile app,” she continued. “I ran downstairs to show my partner, and I yelped again when the zeroes came up for the second time!”
The happy winner said she is going to save her windfall for now, but she dreams of one day owning her own business.
“I would like to have my own business,” she said. “But I think the thing I’m most looking forward to is having the opportunity to choose what I want to do. It’s a great feeling.”
Fitzgerald purchased her winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket at the Save-On-Foods located at 106-100 Riverstone Ridge in Fort McMurray.
She won the million-dollar LOTTO 6/49 guaranteed prize by matching the winning selection 27797657-02.
