$7 Million Western Canadian Winner Is Going To Travel To Italy
Christmas came early for one Okotoks woman who won $7 million in Western Canada's Daily Grand lottery.
Okotoks resident Kerry Mudd had just purchased her first ticket for the Daily Grand lottery when she found out this month that she had claimed the top prize in the contest.
It was a true case of beginner’s luck; Mudd had never purchased a Daily Grand ticket before.
Kerry bought her $4 ticket from Shoppers Drug Mart, at 171-31 Southridge Drive in Okotoks.
Mudd took home $7 million in the Dec. 1 draw for the lottery. Her single quick pick selection was the only ticket sold for the Dec. 1 draw to match all five numbers and the Grand number.
She learned that she had won the prize of $1,000 a day for life when she went to check her ticket the evening of Dec. 2.
“I was in complete disbelief,” Mudd said in a news release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “I still can’t believe it’s true."

She said she plans to do some travelling and use her prize to help her family.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Italy,” she said.
The winning numbers were 4, 23, 34, 39 and 40. The Grand number was 3.
The Daily Grand game launched in October, 2016. Previously, an Edmonton resident - the first Albertan to win the lottery game - won the top prize on the Nov. 10 draw. Mudd is the second winner.
Suryanarayana Bora of Edmonton was the first top prize winner of Canada’s newest national lottery game, Daily Grand.
