Winner's Disbelief As Lotto 649 $7,000 Turns Into $7 Million For Elliot Lake Woman
Faye Officer is ecstatic after winning the Canada Lotto 649 $7 million jackpot.
Long-time lottery player Faye Officer couldn't believe her luck.
"The morning after the (September 5) draw, I checked my ticket at the self-checker. I saw some zeros and thought I had won $7,000, which seemed great at the time," she told the Sault Star.
"But as I kept scanning my ticket in disbelief, I realized that I had won the $7 million jackpot,” shared Faye while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her prize.

“I immediately went to my car and cried, laughed and screamed and then cried again!”
The win became real after sharing the news with her husband and validating her ticket with a retailer.
Faye, a convenience store employee, and her husband, the Elliot Lake Fire Chief, are both taking an early retirement.
Faye and her husband want to visit Australia very soon.
While a new set of golf clubs, a new truck and helping out their two children is in the couple’s plan, so is some travel.
“Visiting Australia is at the top of my list,” shared Faye.
When asked if she still plans to play LOTTO 649, Faye smiled.
“Absolutely! Maybe lightning will strike twice!”
The winning ticket was purchased at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.
