They Won $9 Million But None Of These Canada Post Workers Will Retire
The eleven winners of a $9 million Canada 649 jackpot show their check.
For these eleven Canada Post workers, it's business as usual. Even though each of them received almost $823,000 each, they plan to stay at their jobs.
"The day we found out, it was very exciting," said organiser Nathalie Boucher, after returning home from picking up their prize in Toronto yesterday.
"When I was at the store, I called work and announced that we won, and no one believed me, until I got to the post office. They said they finally believed me when they saw me, holding the ticket and shaking."
They bought the winning ticket at Kwikway on Notre Dame in Azilda.
"Then they were like, 'Oh my God, this is real,' and everyone got to express their emotions 11 times, because we had to explain it to every one of them."
Nine of the women work at the same post office in Azilda, while two more are at another location.
Some are planning to use the money to pay off their children's mortgages, while other want to treat their kids to new cars or trips. One member of the group plans to surprise her parents by paying off their mortgage as an anniversary gift.
