Truckie Bruce Osmond wasted no time in getting rid of his livelihood.

Within 3 hours of learning that he'd won the Atlantic Lottery $1 Million jackpot, the Nova Scotia driver had quit his job and his truck was sold.

"I told my boss he better not load my truck because I wasn't coming in anymore." 

Osmond lives in Lucasville, on the outskirts of Halifax, and bought his winning Lotto 649 ticket at a Lower Sackville Esso station.

The now newly-retired Lucasville man checked his ticket online after a friend had mentioned that the winning ticket had been sold in Lower Sackville.

“It was just awesome,” Osmond said. “My hands were shaking and I just kept checking and rechecking."

“I added TAG and Atlantic 49 on it,” he said in the release. “It cost me $2 but it made me a million.”

Osmond won the $1 million guaranteed prize, which is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday. 

After giving up trucking, Osmond says he is looking forward to a life on easy street.

The delighted grandfather said he is looking forward to spending more time with his grandchildren.

The winning ticket was purchased at Esso on Sackville Drive in Lower Sackville.

The retailer will receive a one percent seller’s commission of $10,000.
